About Us
BT4BC was formed in February 2009 by Brianna Parbury, chair of the BT4BC organising committee, whose mother had been receiving treatment for metastatic breast cancer at the Prince of Wales Hospital and passed away in May 2009. Alongside Brianna, each founding committee member has been affected in some way by breast cancer and as a result has been motivated to raise funds for a very worthy cause.
In 2010, the Committee held the inaugrual Black Tie for Breast Cancer Charity Gala which attracted 430 guests and raised $100, 000 for the Cancer Centre at the Prince of Wales Hospital. In 2011, the event was back by popular demand with over 600 guests in attendance who each helped raise a further $145, 000. The Committee is currently in the process of organising the 2012 event.
"The Prince of Wales Hospital Foundation (POWHF) is committed to health promotion, research and education of disease and health problems of adult patients at the Prince of Wales Hospital. We support the purchase of equipment and the refurbishment of departments to align with best practice service delivery.
The POWHF’s fundraising programs are aimed at facilitating the promotion of health and patient care through specific initiatives, with proceeds being applied to key areas of health that require support.
POWHF Board of Directors is indebted to the work of the BT4BC Committee for their commitment, enthusiasm, determination, generosity of time and spirit plus good humour in working toward making a better place for cancer patients at the Prince of Wales Hospital."

Brianna Parbury (Chair)
Brianna is captain of the ship and steers the BT4BC Black Tie for Breast Cancer Committee. As a corporate lawyer with an eye for impeccable detail, Brianna has mastered the art of negotiating and happily provides support to all aspects of our Committee including Operations, Logistics, Media, PR, Communications, Sponsorship and Prizes. Brianna is a Business/LLB graduate of the University of Technology, Sydney and enjoys a glass or two of red.. every (second) night!
Kate Bradley
Kate is a Communications and PR specialist and is the it-girl for implementing all our BT4BC Black Tie for Breast Cancer ideas! She drives our communications strategies and formulates our cracking media plans. Having graduated from Charles Sturt University Bathurst and worked for leading Public Relations agencies in both the UK and Australia, Kate brings a wealth of knowledge to our Committee. We are all still astounded how she's managed to organise her wedding, buy AND fully renovate a house without missing a BT4BC beat.
Claire MacMillan
Claire tornado-ed from South Africa to Perth to Sydney a few years ago (but don't hold that against her!). We all think she is probably the funniest corporate lawyer in Australia, and is the wit-and-brains of the Committee with her quirky lines to boot! Claire is involved in securing BT4BC Black Tie for Breast Cancer Sponsorship and Prizes, and is a regular fixture at many of Paddington's boutiques and pubs. From one sandstone to another, Claire is a Commerce/LLB graduate of the University of Western Australia and now completing her LLM at the University of Sydney. Claire dominates off and on the (netball) court, and is a huge fan of real football (thats AFL people!).
Marina Mitrevski
Marina is a self confessed radio, internet, film, tv, globetrotting junkie. Also a lawyer (currently residing in London), Marina navigates her way around contracts and nightclubs in Sydney, London and beyond with equal ingenuity. Marina is a Commerce/LLB graduate of the University of Wollongong, and a LLM graduate of the University of Sydney, and works closely on securing BT4BC Black Tie for Breast Cancer Sponsorship, PR and Media, regularly liasing with our Ambassadors - all whilst steering the direction of the BT4BC Black Tie for Breast Cancer website and social media strategy. Marina dreams BIG, her fundraising iniatives and ideas are unconventional (and often crazy!), but somehow she finds a way to make them work. Marina was awarded a Medal of Commendation for Community Service from the Order of Australia Association (NSW Branch) in 2000 and was a nominee for the QANTAS Woman of the Year in the UK Award held at the Langham Hotel in London in 2012.
Vanessa Pallone
Vanessa is primarily involved in securing BT4BC Black Tie for Breast Cancer Sponsorship and Prizes. Vanessa is a Commerce/LLB graduate of the University of Wollongong, yet we are convinced she actually studied Gemology since she is bedazzled by all things sparkly! Vanessa is an insanely competent multi-tasker and we are all astounded by Vanessa's ability to remain calm while working busily as a corporate finance lawyer and studying at FINSIA, all whilst organising her upcoming wedding! Vanessa is also our kaftan queen.
Lexi Rosenwax
A Commerce/LLB graduate from the University of Western Australia, Lexi is a lawyer-turned-management-consultant by day, party planner by night. She is fluent in both water polo and consuming the by-products of mixologists (not necessarily in that order!), and frequently can be seen taking the red eye from Elizabeth Bay (via Gazebo Wine Garden) en route to Perth. Lexi works closely with April and Jess to coordinate the Supporter aspects of BT4BC Black Tie for Breast Cancer, and has recently located to London.
April Thomas
April is yet another lawyer and is often mistaken on the streets of Sydney for Elle from Legally Blonde. Don't be fooled by her cute sense of style, her M&A skills are second to none! Originally hailing from Western Australia, April migrated to New South Wales several years ago and now speaks both languages fluently. She is a Commerce/LLB graduate of the prestigous University of Western Australia and is now completeing her LLM at the equally prestigous University of Sydney. April works closely with the Venue, Logistics and Operational aspects of BT4BC Black Tie for Breast Cancer.
Jessica Monti-Seymour
Jessica was invited to join BT4BC in mid 2011 when the other committee members realised that not one member of the existing group had red hair. Jessica, with her fabulous, shiny red hair is also an organisational whiz (you should see her sock draw), a masterchef and is known for her ability to stay cool as a cucumber when things are getting hot! hot! hot! Raised in the country, Jessica is a UTS grad with B. Management in Exercise and Sport and B. Arts in International studies and if 5 years of study was not enough she is back at it again studying Primary teaching at CSU. Jessica will be assisting with the Sponsorship and Prizes aspects of BT4BC.
Jacklyn Magafa
Jacklyn was invited to join BT4BC in mid 2011 when the committee realised that we did not have a grecian goddess on board! As well as being from the isles, Jacklyn has over 9 years experience working in the world of advertising. Jacklyn has a Diploma in Marketing and Advertising at Macleay College, Sydney and as one of the newest members to join the BT4BC team, her key role will be primarily securing new sponsorships, further building relationships with current partners, as well as supporting the team overall with all things BT4BC. After two years of being in the background, Jacklyn is honoured to be part of the team and is excited for the many years of events ahead.

The CEO of the Prince of Wales Hospital Foundation, LuLu Zalapa, oversees the work of the BT4BC girls and brings to the table her savvy business acumen, wicked sense of humour, expert fundraising experience and a motherly touch!
